Installing Ubuntu 8.04

I am new to Ubuntu.

My computer need to be format just now, so I formated it with some help from my brother. Asking him to setup my laptop into 3 partition. C:\ for Windows. D:\ for my data. E:\ for Ubuntu.

Nah.. My brother was sleep at this moment. So I need to continue install important and not so important software to my laptop. After few hours, I think it is a right time to install the Ubuntu for my E:\ .

But, I’m afraid if anything happen to my lovely data at D:\ . So I just left it behind, and wait for my brother for guiding me how to install it to my partition. I have try it out, but suddenly I’m feel nervous. There are many important thing in my D:\ . Then, I’m quickly shut down the laptop before finishing installing the Ubuntu. Luckily the data is still there. Alhamdulillah.

What a coincidence - I’m new to Ubuntu too! I just installed it this week and am using it right now - and what I love most about it is that it’s freaking beautiful.

    Salam,

It’s ok to be afraid of losing ur data. For the first time you should be guided or u’ll lose ur valuable data and ur precious time.

However, the best thing is backup ur data first to other external drives like USB drive or hard disk. Then u can start the installation to install on E: partition. If u screw it up (shit does happen sometimes :) ) (say losing ur data on D:), you still have ur data to restore.

    Have fun!
